Week 11 Predictions: Tertiary Rivalries Renewed

Ok, so for Week 10, I can explain. No I can’t. It just wasn’t a good one. I’ve had a few perfect weeks, but these all-SEC weeks get tough, man. It’s even worse when Hugh Freeze beats Arkansas.

Last week: 4-5 (44.4%)
This week: 6-3 (66.7%)
Overall: 75-39 (65.7%)

This week doesn’t get any easier. Every game seems to be a good matchup for both teams. It’s like everybody is playing their third rival or some team with some recent history. Let’s just close our eyes and hope for the best.

11/12

LSU at Arkansas – Remember when this used to be that Friday game after Thanksgiving? They have a Boot trophy and everything. LSU is trending way upward, and after a loss to Liberty, Arkansas is on the way down. It could be stupid because I’m not sure the Purple Tigers are all the way up, but they should take this one.

LSU 34, Arkansas 20

LSU 13, Arkansas 10 – SUCCESS!

Vanderbilt at Kentucky – Ah, the ol’ Cellar Bowl. Feels good to remember those days. Kentucky is barely out of the cellar while Vanderbilt will never lose that smell.

Kentucky 38, Vanderbilt 21

Vanderbilt 24, Kentucky 21 – FAILURE

Missouri at Tennessee – Darn, the Vols AREN’T the BEST TEAM of ALL TIME after all?! They’ll kill Missouri, but it just feels good to see them out of the Bourbon-soaked clouds.

Tennessee 42, Missouri 17

Tennessee 66, Missouri 24 – SUCCESS!

Alabama at Ole Miss – The Tide is broken. Saban argues they have lost 2 games by 4 points and both were on the last play of the game, but they also should’ve/could’ve lost to Texas and Texas A&M. Ole Miss has the offense to beat them. Their defense is terrible, but Bryce Young hasn’t been great either. Let’s go with the home team.

Ole Miss 31, Alabama 28

Alabama 30, Ole Miss 24 – FAILURE

South Carolina at Florida – The Spurrier Bowl. Wait, he’s not there anymore. Florida is upper mediocre on most days. South Carolina wishes to be mediocre and any excitement from their first 7 games was due to a high school schedule and a win over perennial power Kentucky. The Gators pull away late.

Florida 27, South Carolina 14

Florida 38, South Carolina 6 – SUCCESS!

Georgia at Mississippi State – This is a weird one. I mean Georgia is going to kill them, but it’s a game you don’t see a lot. The Maroons will ring their cowbells illegally with so much excitement when the Georgia running back only gains 6 yards on the first play. At 17-0, they’ll be in line at the cheese store.

Georgia 41, Mississippi State 7

Georgia 45, Mississippi State 19 – SUCCESS!

Texas A&M at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: whatever happens just keep the yell leaders away from my children.

Auburn 31, Texas A&M 17

Auburn 13, Texas A&M 10 – SUCCESS!

Other Games of Note

UCF at Tulane – The combined record of these two teams is 15-3. They are both ranked. They would both lose to Auburn by 17 or more points, but it’s a good story. If it was in Orlando, I’d go with Gus. Because it’s not in Orlando, I’m going to go with Gus.

UCF 24, Tulane 20

UCF 38, Tulane 31 – SUCCESS!

Washington at Oregon – The combined record of these two teams is 15-3. They are both ranked. They would both lose to Auburn by… ok maybe not Oregon because they have the Heisman candidate quarterback running plays back there, but you get it. Oregon is better and it’s at home. It won’t be close.

Oregon 38, Washington 17

Washington 37, Oregon 34 – FAILURE
