Week 8 Predictions: Third Week in October is Weird

Ok, so Week 7 was one of those weeks where I got a little loose and started picking with my heart. It was more about what I wanted to happen. Never again.

This week: 5-3 (62.5%)
Last week:
3-5 (37.5%)
Overall: 66-23 (74.2%)

Wow this is a light week. Four SEC games and LSU playing… Army? Kinda hard to get the grade out of the gutter with only a few chances to be right.

10/21

Mississippi State at Arkansas – Here’s one with teams that people really want to be good because they aren’t ever really good that aren’t good again. Arkansas will win because they are at home and Mississippi State shouldn’t have changed their offense.

Arkansas 38, Mississippi State 21

Mississippi State 7, Arkansas 3 – FAILURE

Tennessee at Alabama – It’s the THIRD WEEK IN OCTOBER on every calendar in the world, regardless of which team you pull for. These two teams are honestly probably about even, and neither one is elite. Tennessee isn’t as elite as SEC Network wants them to be. Alabama isn’t as elite as Saban’s recruiting loopholes has had them in the past. But there’s no way Tennessee is winning two in a row.

Alabama 27, Tennessee 17

Alabama 34, Tennessee 20 – SUCCESS!

South Carolina at Missouri – Doesn’t it feel like these two teams only play the level of teams of each other? Seriously, it’s them and Mississippi State and Arkansas and Kentucky and they play each other every week. Missouri can score points, South Carolina doesn’t have a coach with two feet.

Missouri 34, South Carolina 24

Missouri 34, South Carolina 12 – SUCCESS!

Army at LSU – What is this? LSU will be flat because why are they playing this game between Auburn, a bye week, and Alabama?

LSU 45, Army 13

LSU 62, Army 0 – SUCCESS!

Ole Miss at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: Auburn got the better Rebel.

Auburn 34, Ole Miss 23

Ole Miss 28, Auburn 21 FAILURE

Other Games of Note

Penn State at Ohio State – Two undefeateds playing in the Horseshoe, in a conference nobody really cares about that will have 10 more teams next year. I’d be undefeated if I played Rutgers and Minnesota every weekend, too. Home team wins. That’s it.

Ohio State 30, Penn State 21

Ohio State 20, Penn State 12 – SUCCESS!

Duke at Florida State – Duke was riding a wave of beating Clemson in Week 1, then they just kinda became a better than normal Duke. Florida State is not as good as 90’s baby media members want them to be, but they are better than Duke.

Florida State 37, Duke 28

Florida State 38, Duke 20 – SUCCESS!

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2023 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
