Week 5 Predictions: All SEC-on-SEC Action

Well, I thought my Week 4 was good, when did math start saying going 8-3 is a C-average? I’ve been out of school too long.

This week: 6-3 (66.7%)
Last week:
8-3 (72.7%)
Overall: 53-12 (81.5%)

It’s all SEC-on-SEC this week. We’re in the nitty gritty now. And I only have to pick seven conference games. That’s the real MVP. If you’re looking for more out of conference predictions, check with The Emporium.

9/30

Texas A&M at Arkansas – The Aggies sorta came out of nowhere with good defense last week. Arkansas sorta came out of nowhere and could’ve beaten LSU. I think Texas A&M is better, but their offense isn’t nearly as good as their defense. Arkansas should’ve beaten a top 10 team, but lost to BYU. Texas A&M was beaten badly by Miami and didn’t let Auburn do anything last week. I have no clue.

Texas A&M 17, Arkansas 14

Texas A&M 34, Arkansas 22 – SUCCESS!

Florida at Kentucky – Florida beat Tennessee and then struggled with Charlotte. Kentucky has been Kentucky. They beat some cupcakes and Vandy and we’re supposed to care? The Wildcats will look decent against Florida because it’s in Lexington and Florida isn’t great (because neither is Tennessee), but will lose at the end.

Florida 23, Kentucky 17

Kentucky 33, Florida 14 – FAILURE

Missouri at Vanderbilt – Missouri is ranked. They are 4-0 with some pretty sad scores over cupcakes and a 100 yard field goal to beat Kansas State. I guess it makes the pollsters feel good. Vanderbilt is the most Vanderbilt that Vanderbilt has ever been.

Missouri 31, Vanderbilt 20

Missouri 38, Vanderbilt 21 – SUCCESS!

LSU at Ole Miss – LSU could’ve lost to Arkansas. Ole Miss lost to the worst Alabama team in a decade. I don’t think LSU is the greatest team in the world, but I do think Ole Miss can still score points. It’ll be very close, but LSU will pull it out.

LSU 38, Ole Miss 34

Ole Miss 55, LSU 49 – FAILURE

South Carolina at Tennessee – The two inexplicably overhyped teams of 2023 face off to see which one is going to be back in the hearts of the SEC Network crew. Seriously, those people LOVE these two teams. South Carolina might have the better quarterback, even though people love to say Tennessee’s is “SICK!” But the Vols will win at home.

Tennessee 28, South Carolina 17

Tennessee 41, South Carolina 20 – SUCCESS!

Alabama at Mississippi State – The Tide got back on track by beating Ole Miss. Has that statement ever been said? Mississippi State is just not good. They’re Mississippi State. But Alabama still can’t score a lot of points.

Alabama 27, Mississippi State 7

Alabama 40, Mississippi State 17 – SUCCESS!

Georgia at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: UGA has been slow all year. Auburn’s offense looked *really* bad one game.

Auburn 17, Georgia 14

Georgia 27, Auburn 20 – FAILURE

Other Games of Note

USC at Colorado – I’m putting Colorado in all these picks so I can get some easy wins. They were exposed, as we all knew they’d be, and that’s exactly why people were watching. They weren’t watching to see Deion. They were watching to see Deion lose. And they’ll lose again this week. Again, nothing against him. Everything against the overhype.

USC 38, Colorado 10

USC 48, Colorado 41 – SUCCESS!

Notre Dame at Duke – Remember, Duke is good because they beat the worst Clemson in a few years. If Notre Dame had 11 players on the field, they might’ve beaten Ohio State this week. They’re dumb, but they might be decent.

Notre Dame 23, Duke 20

Notre Dame 21, Duke 14 – SUCCESS!

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2023 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
