TEAM HISTORY
You’d be tempted to believe that the New Mexico State Aggies are a relatively new football team. After all, it’s NEW Mexico. Not old Mexico. Plus, the name “Aggies” is what any land grant school chooses as a mascot when they just don’t feel like coming up with a name. I mean, there are at least 9 schools that go by the name “Aggies” and considering we’re talking about NEW Mexico then maybe you’re thinking this team was formed sometime in the 90s and you’d be correct!
1893 to be precise.
Outside of that little factoid, there’s really nothing else to talk about.
SERIES HISTORY
Auburn is 3-0 against New Mexico State with all games being played in the last 30 years and the margin of victory being no smaller than 35 points.
The series’ history is very similar to their overall program history. Just not that interesting.
WHAT TO WATCH
New Mexico State is currently 2nd in their conference and has an 8-3 record. They aren’t bad this year, but they lost to UMass at the beginning of the season. Auburn beat UMass at the beginning of the season.
Watch to see if our offensive productivity continues to get better. Can we maintain or get better as a springboard into the Iron Bowl?
PREDICTION
It will likely feel like a closer game at times early than it ultimately will end up being by the 4th quarter.
