Week 9 Predictions: All Filler, No Killer

Week 8 was whatever. I picked an “upset” correctly, but I keep having this one miss every week. Every week. You won’t have to think too hard to figure out where it comes from.

Last Week: 6-4 (60.0%)
This Week: 0-0 (0.0%)
Overall: 68-29 (70.1%)

It’s an all-SEC week this week. No out of conference. But again, the non-SEC slate is pretty week. I’ve said it all year, but it’s true. Now that there are 16 teams, almost every “good” game is in the SEC.

10/26

Oklahoma at Ole Miss – There’s no way South Carolina is as as good as their beatdown of Oklahoma looked last week, but maybe Auburn broke the Sooners. Yeah, that’s it. Ole Miss wins.

OIe Miss 42, Oklahoma 17

Arkansas at Mississippi State – The Razorbacks thought they had turned a corner, but then got smoked by LSU. The Maroons have had close-ish scores against Georgia and Texas A&M, but they still have just one win. It’ll be close.

Arkansas 34, Mississippi State 31

Missouri at Alabama – Missouri’s quarterback is apparently not playing. Alabama is not good, but neither is Missouri’s backup. The Tide will win just because.

Alabama 31, Missouri 10

Texas at Vanderbilt – The Longhorns thought they were something. Georgia said nah. Vanderbilt appears to kinda be something, but then they only beat Ball State by ten last week. They won’t have another upset win this year.

Texas 42, Vanderbilt 28

LSU at Texas A&M – Both of these teams have good records and appear to be decent, but I still don’t take them as seriously as they seem. Look at what they’ve beaten. It’ll be treated like a Super Bowl and Texas A&M never wins those.

LSU 27, Texas A&M 17

Auburn at Kentucky – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: it will be what Auburn should’ve done to Missouri.

Other Games of Note

Illinois at Oregon – I’m not accepting that Illinois is actually good. Just because they beat Michigan and have a decent record in a conference that has a big name doesn’t mean they’d be anything in the SEC. Oregon is one of the better teams in the nation. They’ll end this dream run for Bert.

Oregon 38, Illinois 13

Florida State at Miami – This is not a game of note, but as I said, there are very few good non-SEC games each week. We’re just looking at names here. Miami has the ability to kill the Noles, but I feel like you can never take the Hurricanes too seriously. It’ll be closer than it should be.

Miami 27, Florida State 21

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2024 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
