TEAM HISTORY
The Maryland Terrapins football team represents the University of Maryland in what you could have sworn is the ACC but in fact, is in the Big Ten. This team historically exudes ACC mediocrity which can be explained simply by the fact that they spent the better part of 60 years in the ACC. Somehow, and for some reason, the B1G found that attractive (?) and invited the Twerps…I mean, Terps, back in 2014. The overall winning percentage is sub .500 and their past coaches have names like Randy Edsall and DJ Durkin.
Speaking of Twerps, the team’s nickname is known as the Terrapins, in reference to the diamondback terrapin. There’s a Wikipedia entry on why this is the case, but I found it neither interesting nor illuminating. They shorten the word terrapin to Terps, and okay I’m officially bored.
Let’s move on.
SERIES HISTORY
Auburn and Maryland have faced each other three other times in history with Auburn holding a 2-1 edge in this series. The most notable game came in 1983 when Tommy Agee, Lionel James (Little Train), and somebody named Bo Jackson all ran for over 100 yards and Auburn won 35-23.
WHAT TO WATCH
Maryland’s starting quarterback, Tallyuva Tagonmycorolla, has opted out of this bowl game. Auburn fans have learned to be terrified of the unknown backup that loves to show out against them.
What to see if Auburn carries any momentum in the running game from the Iron Bowl into this game.
Watch to see Auburn fans take over Nashville because frankly a bunch of them already lived there to begin with. I lived there several years after I graduated and believe me Auburn is very well represented among the residents of the area.
PREDICTION
We win.
Auburn – 38, Twerps – 17
