Week 8 was a step back in the right direction, but we’re still not back to where we need to be.
This week: 7-0 (0.0%)
Last week: 5-3 (62.5%)
Overall: 73-23 (76.0%)
It’s another bye-heavy, all-SEC week, which means less chances to be wrong, but also less chances to bring the grade back up.
10/28
South Carolina at Texas A&M – What if I told you that these teams’ combined record is 6-8? South Carolina was changing the culture, and now they are 2-5. Texas A&M was going to be different this year, and now they are 4-3. The Aggies are better than the Gamecocks, and they are at home, so they’ll win.
Texas A&M 27, South Carolina 10
Texas A&M 30, South Carolina 17 – SUCCESS!
Georgia vs. Florida (Jacksonville, FL) – This week has been eaten up with talking heads saying that Georgia has not looked like a playoff team and that they will need to look good against the Gators to stay up there. Is that actual logic showing up? Yes, they won back-to-back championships, but have played a weak schedule and looked pretty weak in most of those wins. Florida isn’t good enough, though.
Georgia 34, Florida 17
Georgia 43, Florida 20 – SUCCESS!
Tennessee at Kentucky – It’s the Bourbon Bowl! Is that what they call it? They should. I can smell the moonshine and hear the creaking rocking chairs from here. Sorry, I was in Pigeon Forge a few weeks ago. Tennessee lost to Florida. Kentucky beat Florida. Both are 5-2. Tennessee is better than Kentucky.
Tennessee 28, Kentucky 23
Tennessee 33, Kentucky 27 – SUCCESS!
Vanderbilt at Ole Miss – Remember when this game was usually to figure out who would share the cellar with Kentucky? Vandy is bad. Ole Miss is not great, but much, much better than Vanderbilt.
Ole Miss 45, Vanderbilt 13
Ole Miss 33, Vanderbilt 7 – SUCCESS!
Mississippi State at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: Cam Newton went to Auburn because nobody wants to go to Mississippi State.
Auburn 38, Mississippi State 17
Auburn 27, Mississippi State 13 – SUCCESS!
Other Games of Note
Oregon at Utah – This is one is a little tough. Oregon is a better team than Utah, but Utah is excited and they have home mountain advantage. Vegas thinks Oregon is a touchdown better. It’s probably a toss-up, but I never bet against Bo.
Oregon 30, Utah 24
Oregon 35, Utah 6 – SUCCESS!
Duke at Louisville – I’m not sure why there’s so much Duke and/or Louisville in my predictions recently, but both are ranked and they keep playing mid-ranked teams from the ACC. I don’t believe in Louisville just yet, but I’m not ever going to believe in Duke football. Cardinals at home.
Louisville 21, Duke 20
Louisville 23, Duke 0 – SUCCESS!
