Week 9 Predictions: Week 9? WEEK 9?!?!

How in the world is it week 9? Do I say that every week? It seems like it, but really, we wait all year for this stuff and it’s almost gone. Oh well, how many days till kickoff 2015?

This Week: 8-0 (100.0%)
Last Week: 5-3 (62.5%)
Overall: 70-22 (76.1%)

10/25

UAB at Arkansas – “The Razorbacks will play UAB. Why won’t Alabama?” – Kevin Scarbinksy, probably. Arkansas will win, giving Bert another non-conference win that means nothing until they can win again inside the freakin’ conference. He’s close. He’s just not.

Arkansas 45, UAB 20

Arkansas 45, UAB 17SUCCESS!

Mississippi State at Kentucky – This is the CBS game. This is the CBS game. Mississippi State at Kentucky. This is the CBS game. Goodbye, cruel world. Honestly, though, I had this one pegged as a slight upset special until Kentucky was blown out by LSU last week. Now, yeah, Mississippi State will probably roll.

Mississippi State 45, Kentucky 10

Mississippi State 45, Kentucky 31 SUCCESS!

Vanderbilt at Missouri – Hey look, it’s the battle of the teams I most want out of the SEC. Can we make this one Loser Leaves Town, or Lose Leaves Conference? Seriously, I can’t even.

Missouri 24, Vanderbilt 10

Missouri 24, Vanderbilt 14SUCCESS!

Ole Miss at LSU – LSU looked pretty bad a few weeks ago. They looked disheveled and confused, but then they blew out Kentucky — a Kentucky that had seemingly improved — like you’d think LSU should beat Kentucky.

Ole Miss, while they have an impressive win over Alabama, seem like the top 5 team that’s closest to a poser. They have a great defense, but there’s no way this Bo guy can continue this charade. They aren’t a great team. They have just hit all the right spots at all the right times. That doesn’t happen (much) in Death Valley. Upset special.

LSU 24, Ole Miss 20

LSU 10, Ole Miss 7SUCCESS!

Alabama at Tennessee – Awww look, it’s that thing they pretend is still a rivalry. They are so mad at each other. Alabama hates a guy who doesn’t coach there anymore, and Tennessee hates getting beaten a lot of times in a row. Seriously, stop. Quit trying to make this game a thing anymore.

Alabama 41, Tennessee 17

Alabama 34, Tennessee 20SUCCESS!

South Carolina at Auburn – Check my game preview later for my score prediction. SPOILER ALERT: Bumpy start turns blowout.

Auburn 45, South Carolina 17

Auburn 42, South Carolina 35 SUCCESS!

Other Games of Note

Ohio State at Penn State – I put this game here because the names look important. But really, does this game matter at all? Every Virginia Tech loss makes Ohio State look worse, and another has already happened this week. Penn State is still rebuilding, but they’re doing it with Vanderbilt’s old coach. Yeah, I know you all love him, but whatever.

Ohio State 34, Penn State 21

Ohio State 31, Penn State 24SUCCESS!

West Virginia at Oklahoma State – Last season, West Virginia beat Oklahoma State in an upset at home. After any win, West Virginia’s players line up in front of the student section as the whole stadium sings John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” And somehow I found this video during last season of the postgame of West Virginia’s win. And I love it.

I think it has a lot to do with receiver Ronald Carswell’s (who was once an Alabama signee and has since been kicked off the team) attempt at being a hype man during the whitest, most-country song ever. It also has to do with that sound of the stadium singing “I BELLLOOOOOOONNNGGGG.” It just gets me, and I always find myself watching it every few months. You should, too. And because I love it so much, West Virginia will win.

West Virginia 44, Oklahoma State 31

West Virginia 34, Oklahoma State 10SUCCESS!
