2013-2014 Bowl Predictions – Week 2 (Pt. 2)

The 2nd half of the 2nd week of the 2013 bowl season is upon us. This is when games should get interesting. So far, they’ve been pretty terrible… like my picks. I mean, I got better with a 6-5 record for the first 11 games this week, but I don’t live below .500. Blogle don’t do that.

Bowls: 17-13c (56.7%)
Regular Season: 145-33 (81.4%)
Overall: 162-46 (77.9%), ATS at PickOrPlay.com: 70-70 (50.0%)

12/31

Advocare V100 Bowl (11:30 a.m. ESPN)
Arizona vs. Boston College – Arizona blew out Oregon, but lost five games. Boston College had a Heisman candidate and were the only semi-challenge for Florida State all year, but lost five games. Usually the team with the better rushing game wins. That’s Boston College. They’ll win.

Boston College 27, Arizona 21

Arizona 42, Boston College 19FAILURE

Hyundai Sun Bowl (1 p.m. CBS)
Virginia Tech vs. UCLA – Virginia Tech still has Scot Loeffler, right? Yes. Alright, well they won’t move the ball. UCLA wins big.

UCLA 34, Virginia Tech 10

UCLA 42, Virginia Tech 14SUCCESS!

AutoZone Liberty Bowl (3:00 p.m. ESPN)
Rice vs. Mississippi State – Did you know Mississippi State has been to a bowl game four years in a row? It’s a new record. And it’s a bowl that matches them up with Rice. Must be a big honor. No, State fans, you don’t get to eat the Rice.

Mississippi State 34, Rice 17

Mississippi State 44, Rice 7 SUCCESS!

Chick-fil-A Bowl (7:00 p.m. ESPN)
Duke vs. Texas A&M – This will reportedly be Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans’s last game as Aggies. You thought Auburn’s turnaround from 2012 was 2013 was huge? Now imagine that in reverse. That’s what going to happen to Texas A&M. They will kill Duke this year, though.

Texas A&M 52, Duke 20

Texas A&M 52, Duke 48 SUCCESS!

1/1

TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl (11 a.m. ESPN2)
Nebraska vs. Georgia – These two teams played last year in a bowl neither probably cared about. Georgia won because Aaron Murray was healthy. This year, these two teams play in a bowl neither probably cares about. Nebraska will win because Aaron Murray is out.

Nebraska 28, Georgia 17

Nebraska 24, Georgia 19 SUCCESS!

Heart of Dallas Bowl (11 a.m. ESPNU)
UNLV vs. North Texas – Yeah, I don’t have a clue and can honestly say I have not heard a thing about either team this year. I like North Texas, though. Never cared for the Runnin’ Rebs.

North Texas 17, UNLV 13

North Texas 36, UNLV 14 SUCCESS!

Outback Bowl (12 p.m. ESPN)
Iowa vs. LSU – The last time these two teams played, it was Saban’s last game at LSU and Iowa won on a last second touchdown pass. Ol’ Nick has a thing for those kinds of losses, huh? It’s a little bit different this year. Iowa is better than they have been, but that’s saying nothing. A down LSU is still tons better.

LSU 35, Iowa 10

LSU 21, Iowa 14 SUCCESS!

Capital One Bowl (12 p.m. ABC)
Wisconsin vs. South Carolina – This game makes me sleepy just to think about it. There is nothing more boring than Wisconsin football mixed with “10 wins for nothing” South Carolina. Maybe Clowney will have one good play this year before he goes pro. This one will be close, and boring, and close.

South Carolina 30, Wisconsin 28

South Carolina 34, Wisconsin 24 SUCCESS!

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Vizio (4 p.m. ESPN)
Stanford vs. Michigan State – Supposedly Michigan State fans have bought up 3/4 of the tickets for the Rose Bowl. Stanford fans, who only have to drive a few hundred miles, just don’t feel like it. Or they are worried about curing cancer or inventing the next mode of orbital transportation. They have a pretty good football team, and these two seem to be carbon copies. But Michigan State is more excited and that’s what wins bowl games. Sparty will win.

Michigan State 24, Stanford 14

Michigan State 24, Stanford 20SUCCESS!

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (7:30 p.m. ESPN)
UCF vs. Baylor – Well this is weird. Both teams have never played in a BCS bowl. Both are kinda just happy to be there. UCF is like, “man this is better than playing on Dec 15th in a Weedwhacker bowl, amirite?” Baylor is all “man, we had it. We’re like Oregon and stuff. We wear green and we’re fast and look cooler than you. We deserve better than this.” UCF as the “little guy” is playing with nothing to lose, but they are the type of team Baylor feasted on early in the season tricking people into thinking they were elite. Baylor will roll.

Baylor 48, UCF 14

UCF 52, Baylor 42 FAILURE

1/2

Allstate Sugar Bowl (7:30 p.m. ESPN)
Oklahoma vs. Alabama – We’ve seen this before, right? I mean, Oklahoma isn’t Utah, but all year Alabama believed they just had to get through the regular season with no major injuries and the stars would align for them to win their 87th national championship. Now they are stuck playing a game that means nothing. Fortunately for them, Oklahoma doesn’t win games that everybody is watching. They just don’t. Alabama will be flat, but they’ll win in boring fashion.

Alabama 34, Oklahoma 13

Oklahoma 45, Alabama 31 FAILURE
