Jim Rome Defends Auburn’s Spirit

Some people love Jim Rome. Some people hate him. Right now, I got nothin’ but love after seeing this clip from yesterday’s show where he tells those that are jealous that their school doesn’t have a tradition near as unique as an eagle that flies around and lands on the field by command to shutup. War Jim Rome. War Spirit. War Eagle.

I’ve always had a little place in my heart for Rome. An Auburn fan called his radio show when I was little and signed off with “War Eagle.” Other listeners didn’t really understand its Auburn connection but they thought it sounded cool, so “War Eagle” became the unofficial signoff for Rome callers for a little while. It was pretty neat.

Now they “War (insert anything here)” and use it to represent things that you like. i.e. “War Jim Rome for keeping it classy” and not too many people realize where it comes from

Why did he have to keep showing the eagle fly into the window so many times? I cringed each time! Ouch! Sweet Spirit.

Eagles never quit and quitters never soar like an Eagle. Nice to have Romey in the AU camp. Did anyone get a count of how many times they showed Spirit hitting the window? Exactly. Too many to count. Necessary? No. Fanning the flames to stir emotions? You bet. No one does that like Jim Rome.
