Auburn’s 2025 football schedule has been released. There won’t be a full September of home games, but there will be home games in October. Let’s take a look at what we have…
August 30th @ Baylor
Auburn opens their 2025 campaign on the road against Baylor who finished 8-4 in 2024. The Bears have underwhelmed since ultimately winning the Big 12 in 2021, but look to reignite the spark that head coach Dave Aranda brought to the program after some tumultuous years. Auburn enters the season with some question marks of their own (namely under center) as they look to get off to a hot start in Waco.
Sept 6th vs. Ball State
After finishing 2024 with a 3-9 record and a 2-6 record in the MAC, Ball State brings their talents to the Plains to take on Auburn in their 2025 home opener. Colin Johnson took over as head coach of the Cardinals in the middle of the 2024 season after a disappointing start, as he replaced Mike Neu in November. Auburn should look to break in their new quarterback against a less than threatening Cardinals squad.
Sept 13th vs. South Alabama
The Jaguars travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on the Tigers after finishing the 2024 season with a 6-6 record. Head coach Major Applewhite will likely return for his second season as the head man roaming the sidelines in Mobile for the Jaguars and will look for an upset win on the Plains in week 3.
Sept 20th @ Oklahoma
Auburn travels to Norman for their first SEC road test of the 2025 season after falling to the Sooners in Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2024. Michael Hawkins Jr. looks to return as the Sooners’ signal caller in 2025 after former 5 star quarterback Jackson Arnold entered the transfer portal in the 2024 offseason, looking to head elsewhere. Oklahoma finished the 2024 season with a 6-6 record, however were only 2-6 in the SEC, 2024 being their first year joining the conference. Auburn will look to get a big win in a tough early season road test.
Sept 27th @ Texas A&M
Following Oklahoma, Auburn enters their second SEC road test as they travel to College Station to take on the Aggies. This series has gone back and forth the past couple of years, with Auburn winning the most recent installment in a 4 overtime thriller in November of 2024. This one will be played earlier in the season and slates to be an important clash for both squads. Mike Elko returns as the Aggies’ head coach for his second season in College Station, after finishing 2024 with an 8-4 record.
Oct 11th vs. Georgia
Auburn hosts Georgia in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry for the Tiger’s first SEC home game of the 2025 season. Georgia has dominated this Rivalry recently, as they added a 2024 SEC Championship to their trophy case in Athens, alogn with a College Football Playoff berth. They finished 2024 with an 11-2 record, and Kirby Smart gets set to return as head coach for his 10th season roaming the sidelines in Athens.
Oct 18th vs. Missouri
The Tigers of Auburn look to take advantage of staying right at home on the Plains as they host Missouri. Mizzou bested Auburn in their meeting in Columbia last season, however Auburn will look to come out on top in this one. Head Coach Eli Drinkwitz led Missouri to a 9-3 record against a weaker schedule per SEC standards. Senior Quarterback Brady Cook should be Graduating and will no longer have any eligibility left, so Missouri will likely be trotting out a fresh face under centre in 2025.
Oct 25th @ Arkansas
After their 2-game home stretch, Auburn heads on the road to Fayetville to pay a visit to the Razorbacks, who also bested the Tigers in JHS last season. Head coach Michael Pittman (although he’s seemingly been on the hot seat for some time now) will return as the head man for his 6th season in Fayetteville, and will look to improve on their 2024 season which saw them finish 6-6.
Nov 1st vs. Kentucky
Auburn returns home to play the Wildcats after having beaten them at Kroger Field for their only road SEC win of the 2024 season. Jarquez Hunter set records in this one last year, however the Tigers will be without his services for this installment. Mark Stoops returns as head coach for his 12 season (!) in Lexington after Kentucky went 4-8 and 1-7 in the SEC last season with their lone SEC win coming against Ole Miss. Should be interesting if the Wildcats trot out transfer and former 5 star quarterback Brock Vandagriff for the 2025 season or if they wish to shake things up under center with a new face.
Nov 8th @ Vanderbilt
After losing to Vandy at home last season, Auburn travels to Nashville to attempt to right the ship after last season’s startling loss and get back to their winning ways against the Commodores. It’s still yet to be determined if Diego Pavia will be at quarterback for Vandy, but if he is that could prove as bad news for the Tigers as Pavia is now 2-0 against Auburn. Clarke Lea will be roaming the sidelines as head coach, returning to the Music City for his 5th season, after boasting a 6-6 record in the 2024 campaign.
Nov 22nd vs. Mercer
The Bears come into JHS as an FCS tune-up for Auburn before the Iron Bowl. Mercer actually fared quite well last season in the Southeastern Conference (FCS) ultimately finishing with an 11-2 record in Head Coach Mark Jacobs’ first season.
Nov 29th vs. Alabama
In Kalen Deboer’s first season as Head Coach in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide finished 9-3 and failed to make the 12 team College Football Playoff. 9-3 sounds like a decent record, but that isn’t what Alabama fans are used to after 17 seasons of the steady disciplinarian Nick Saban roaming the sidelines. Auburn hasn’t won this game since 2019, when Bo Nix bested the Tide in JHS in his freshman season. Since then, the Tide have won 5 straight, something the Tigers and Hugh Freeze will look to change in this one.
