1. What is an Arkansas fan’s first thoughts of Auburn football right now?
The Auburn defense and the Arkansas offense would be playoff team! So, I envy your defense, but like most of your fans, am disgusted by your offense.
2. What are your thoughts on Sam Pittman being out and Bobby Petrino being back in?
Pittman had to go. Petrino’s offense has been excellent all season save the Notre Dame game. With so many openings this offseason and Arkansas failing to ignite NIL for the football team, I think Petrino will have a realistic shot at the job. I used to work in the athletic department and still have friends that do. To a man, every single one has talked about how different Petrino is this time around. He is less of a jerk. I’m sure the last decade was humbling for him.
3. Do you want Petrino to be the coach next season?
I want the next coach to be whomever can energize the biggest donors. It is impossible to ignore what Texas Tech has done without near the history of Arkansas.
4. Name two current Auburn Tigers that scare you and why.
Well, our defense is putrid. So, Cobb and Coleman scare me the most. I’m befuddled why Cam Coleman doesn’t get a dozen targets a game though he has gotten more balls of late.
5. Name two Razorbacks that should Auburn fans should keep their eye on.
It all starts with Taylen Green, our QB. He is great as long as he avoids turnovers. He is averaging 272 yards a game through the air and 84 more on the ground. Those are Heisman-esque numbers if he reduced the turnovers, and the defense was just average. The defense gives up 42 points a game over the last month. Omega Blake, #9, is a WR transfer from Charlotte with 42 catches for 582 yards and four touchdowns.
6. Where will each team have an advantage over the other?
This is a conundrum. What happens when an immovable force (Auburn’s O) meets a moveable object (Arkansas’ D)? If I knew the answer, I’d be in Vegas. I also think figuring out which team has enough grit to continue to compete even though both teams are winless in the SEC. Also, the weather could be a total mess this weekend in Fayetteville.
7. Which matchup intrigues you the most and why?
The flip side is compelling. Which teams strength will win…Arkansas’ offense or the Auburn defense? The Arkansas offense scored 42 against A&M and 31 at Tennessee.
8. What’s your prediction/analysis for the game?
I’ve conditioned to think both teams will score. I trust Petrino and Taylen Green a little bit more. So, give me the Hogs 42-41.
9. Where will Auburn and Arkansas end up this season?
Yikes…neither in a good spot. Likely both home for the holidays and looking for a new coach.
10. What do you think about Hugh Freeze?
He is a fraud. That’s the only word that comes to mind. I want to like him, but I don’t trust anything he says. I also dislike how is struggles with taking responsibility.
