TEAM HISTORY
The University of Georgia Bulldogs football team has been around for a long time. 1892 was their first season. They aren’t located in Atlanta, but rather in Athens, a suburb of Atlanta. Their first unofficial mascot was a goat, but after losing to Auburn, they cooked and ate the goat.
It’s not controversial to say that UGA fans are the worst in the SEC. Their fans believe it’s okay for a grown adult to bark like a dog at anyone and everything.
Seriously, this is not normal behavior.

They’re one of the winningest programs in college football in the 21st century. UGA has won 8 national championships; however, the University of Georgia officially only acknowledges 4 national titles, with 2 of those coming in the last 3 years.
It must be tough being a poverty program with fewer than 9 national titles.
SERIES HISTORY
This game is known as the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, which is, for some reason, older than the South’s Oldest Rivalry (UVA vs. UNC), but we’ve decided to call it the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. I don’t understand this, and I doubt you do either.
The history between these two schools runs deep. UGA’s greatest coach played at Auburn, and Auburn’s greatest coach played at UGA. For reasons such as this, the rivalry has been discussed as a rivalry between brothers. The series between the two was traditionally neck-and-neck for a long time, but as of recently, UGA has pulled away and owns the most victories in the series (65-56-8).
Auburn’s first victory in college football came against UGA 10-0 in 1892.
WHAT TO WATCH
The loss against Oklahoma felt like we were given reasons to be hopeful, but we were robbed by the officials. Texas A&M felt like an all-out offensive regression. If you’ve been following my pessimism for a while (you haven’t), then you’d know that I have been laying the blame at the feet of coaching. I haven’t changed my stance on this in the last two seasons.
Watch to see if we ACTUALLY FINALLY RUN THE BALL INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT IT EVERY WEEK.
Georgia’s pass rush has been suspect, and so has our pass protection. A movable force meets a beatable object.
Watch to see if our offensive linemen have hearing aids.
Watch to see if a night game in Jordan-Hare gives us the edge to get a win.
PREDICTION
This team feels like a more talented version of the same old Freeze product we’ve seen in the prior two seasons. A home game makes you feel like we’ll hang for 3.5 quarters against a beatable team.
I’M MANIFESTING POSITIVITY since a win Saturday would entirely change the trajectory of this season.
Auburn 31, UGA 24
