Kentucky Preview: Yet Again, Auburn Should Win

kentucky-wildcatsWhat did I say last week? Yeah, besides the whole being well rested after a bye week part, it’s pretty much the same song and dance.

Auburn travels again this week to face another weak former SEC East team that is definitely beatable. Auburn is the better team with the better athletes and better scheme. Can Auburn avoid the 1-2 costly mistakes that have flipped wins to losses in 3 of their last 4 defeats? That’s the story.

Until that happens, I’m not really sure what else the story can be.

There was a tweet that went around this week that showed that Auburn is one of only seven teams in the nation that are averaging at least 6.5 yard per play on offense and allowing 5 or less yards on defense.

The other six teams have a combined record of 36-4. Auburn is 2-5. Auburn has a good team. They gain yards and stop the other team, but somehow, some way, some weird, dumb, random, or very easy thing changes what should be an obvious outcome.

So that’s it. There’s nothing major to discuss. Kentucky isn’t as good as Missouri, and Auburn is better than both of them. It’s a night game, so it will be a tougher environment than last week, but Big Blue Nation is already in basketball season. They don’t care about football anymore.

Auburn just needs to feel a win. It’s nearly inexplicable what’s happened the last few weeks. It’s on them to do whatever it takes to kill the story, the stigma, the whatever.

They will.

Auburn finally plays a complete game and exorcises whatever demon has attached itself to the team for the last month or so. Jarquez runs for two long touchdowns. Cam Coleman catches a bomb for a touchdown. Malcolm Simmons takes a reverse 75 yards for a touchdown. Perry Thompson makes an appearance.

Auburn beats a team it should beat, and it won’t be that difficult.

Auburn 35, Kentucky 13
