Week 6 Predictions: Another SEC-Heavy Week

Ok, so last week was the worst week of the year… so far. Week 5 was pretty much all conference play and we don’t know what we have yet, and yeah, I took some chances and some didn’t work out.

Last Week: 4-4 (50.0%)
This Week: 3-5 (37.5%)
Overall: 54-24 (69.2%)

It’s another week with 5 SEC teams sitting at home (and there’s another one next week), so the predictions are short and sweet. Just like you and I like ’em.

10/5

Missouri at Texas A&M – These two teams are always overhyped. Missouri should’ve lost to Vanderbilt, who had just lost to Georgia State. The Aggies are getting some bump for something. They barely beat Bowling Green and limped to a win over Arkansas. The home team will win.. because.

Texas A&M 27, Missouri 17

Texas A&M 41, Missouri 10 – SUCCESS!

Ole Miss at South Carolina – The Rebels got knocked down to Earth last week. The Gamecocks got knocked down to Earth two weeks ago. Neither are as good as they think they are, but Ole Miss is gooder.

Ole Miss 34, South Carolina 21

Ole Miss 27, South Carolina 3 – SUCCESS!

Alabama at Vanderbilt – The Tide almost blew a huge lead last week. Vandy can be good with that quarterback they have, but they tend to still be Vandy. There will be 700 times more Tide fans in the stadium than Vandy fans. It won’t be close.

Alabama 45, Vanderbilt 14

Vanderbilt 40, Alabama 35 – FAILURE

Tennessee at Arkansas – This is a game you don’t see often, but Vol fans should fit right in with Hawg fans,  what with the backwoods, hillbilly style they both employ. Tennessee was somewhat pedestrian two weeks ago with Oklahoma. Arkansas dropped a close one to Texas A&M. The Vols are still much better.

Tennessee 38, Arkansas 17

Arkansas 19, Tennessee 14 – FAILURE

UCF at Florida – Well look at this. Can Gus go into the Swamp and knock off the Gators? The last time he was there, freshman Bo Nix struggled in a top 10 matchup and Tigers’ loss. The Golden Knights have looked good at points this season, but also lost bad to Colorado last week. Florida has looked very blah this year. This one has the possibility for the “upset,” but can I pull the trigger? Sure, let’s do it.

UCF 28, Florida 27

Florida 24, UCF 13 – FAILURE

Auburn at Georgia – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: Georgia isn’t that good.

Auburn 31, Georgia 21

Georgia 31, Auburn 13 – FAILURE

Other Games of Note

Michigan at Washington – Hey, it’s last year’s championship game. Hey, neither are near as good as they were last year. Washington is worse, but they are at home. I still think Michigan squeaks one out at the end.

Michigan 24, Washington 21

Washington 27, Michigan 17 – FAILURE

Miami at Cal – This game is being played at 10:30 pm Miami time. This is what Cal does. They use the time change and then play games at stupid times. No, it’s not TV. It’s them and you won’t convince me otherwise. Auburn handled it last year and Miami will be able to handle it this year.

Miami 34, Cal 20

Miami 39, Cal 38 – SUCCESS!

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2024 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
