Buckle up, It’s March and that means the Madness is here! Conference tournaments are already underway as teams look to to make a last minute push towards the NCAA Tournament. Auburn finished the year tied for third place with a 24-7 record. Auburn secured a bye in the SEC Tournament and will await their first opponent.
The Tigers are the fourth seed in the tournament which means that they will be in the same half of the draw as Tennessee. The Volunteers are the top seed and favorites to win the title. Auburn did lose to them in the regular season by a final score of 92-84. Auburn could face them in the semifinal, should both teams advance.
Auburn’s potential opponents in the quarterfinal are South Carolina or the winner of the round one matchup between Arkansas and Vanderbilt. The Tigers have beaten all of these teams in the regular season by double digits. It’s a favorable draw, but that looming matchup with Tennessee could be tough.
Should Auburn make the championship game, the most likely opponents will be Kentucky, Florida, or Alabama.
The Tigers will tip-off around 2:30 p.m Friday with TV coverage on ESPN.
