The 1st half of week 2 could’ve been better. I went 3-3 with 3 games getting cancelled. I was totally getting those cancelled games right, though. Stupid Covid bringing me down.
Bowls: 20-11 (64.5%)
Regular Season: 100-46 (68.5%)
Overall: 120-57 (67.8%)
The 2nd half of week 2 really starts to amp up with bowl cancellations, teams jumping bowl games, oh, and that playoff thing.
12/29
New Era Pinstripe Bowl
Maryland vs. Virginia Tech – Tua’s brother plays quarterback at Maryland. Virginia Tech will be led by an interim head coach. Both are very detrimental to a team, but Maryland will win because I was there last week.
Maryland 27, Virginia Tech 13
Maryland 54, Virginia Tech 10 – SUCCESS!
Cheez-It Bowl
Clemson vs. Iowa State – Clemson looks like a bunch of Cheez-Its. Iowa State’s mascot is the cyclones, which when you think about it kinda looks like bowl. Clemson was not the normal Clemson and has lost both coordinators. Similarly, Iowa State was ranked way too high early and ended up being a little bit better than they normally are. Both are a small step-up from mediocre. Clemson is better and will win.
Clemson 24, Iowa State 20
Clemson 20, Iowa State 13 – SUCCESS!
Valero Alamo Bowl
Oregon vs. Oklahoma – Both teams have interim coaches for the bowl game. Both teams will look very different next year. It’s safe to say this bowl game really, really means nothing. Expect stupid.
Oklahoma 41, Oregon 38
Oklahoma 47, Oregon 32 – SUCCESS!
12/30
Duke’s Mayo Bowl
North Carolina vs. South Carolina – Auburn went to the Birmingham Bowl because it was close. That’s the same reason these two teams are in this bowl, especially South Carolina. North Carolina is the much better football team.
North Carolina 34, South Carolina 10
South Carolina 38, North Carolina 21 – FAILURE
TransPerfect Music City Bowl
Tennessee vs. Purdue – Here we go. Tennessee is 7-5, ending the season with two big wins over South Alabama and Vanderbilt. If they win this one, they’ll be ranked in the Top 25 next season. Just watch. Purdue is not bad, but it’ll be a home game for the VAWLS. It’ll be stupid.
Tennessee 18, Purdue 17
Purdue 48, Tennessee 45 – FAILURE
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl
Michigan State vs. Pittsburgh – You thought Falcons games had nobody there. Can you imagine what Mercedes-Benz Stadium will look like hosting two teams from the Northeast on a Thursday. I guarantee you every ticket on gameday is free. Neither team’s best player is playing, either.
Michigan State 28, Pittsburgh 24
Michigan State 31, Pittsburgh 21 – SUCCESS!
SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl
Wisconsin vs. Arizona State – Both teams are fine. Not great. Not bad. Just fine. Good-ish. Wisconsin is the favorite and when you’re playing in Las Vegas, you bet on the favorite. That’s something I just made up to sound like it’s an old saying or something. But really, Badgers.
Wisconsin 23, Arizona State 16
Wisconsin 20, Arizona State 13 – SUCCESS!
12/31
TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
Wake Forest vs. Rutgers – Rutgers went from not bowling to bowling against the ACC runner-up in the matter of a few days. I’m sure this one will be close.
Wake Forest 52, Rutgers 10
Wake Forest 38, Rutgers 10 – SUCCESS!
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Washington State vs. Central Michigan – Miami was supposed to be playing in this one. Central Michigan was supposed to be playing Boise State in another bowl. Once those two bailed, the Chippewas jumped over to the Sun Bowl. And it just sounds awesome, right? Washington State and Central Michigan in El Paso. What’s better?
Washington State 23, Central Michigan 20
Central Michigan 24, Washington State 21 – FAILURE
Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
Cincinnati vs. Alabama – The Bearcats beat Houston by 15. Houston beat half-a-Auburn by 4. Alabama beat Auburn by 2. Cincinnati is winning this thing.
Cincinnati 38, Alabama 28
Alabama 27, Cincinnati 6 – FAILURE
Capital One Orange Bowl
Georgia vs. Michigan – Georgia was exposed. Michigan is Big Ten good. That puts both of these teams at about the same level. Some good defense and extremely boring offenses. I’m going with Michigan just because I want to.
Michigan 27, Georgia 21
Georgia 34, Michigan 11 – FAILURE
Now that I’ve picked the bowls, you should go join the bowl pick’em. Just make sure you have them in prior to each game, but go ahead and do them all so you don’t have to worry about it. There’s prizes and stuff.
