There are a few subtle moves in this week’s ranking, and I finally give one East team a little credit (that won’t last). Oh, and YOU’LL NEVER GUESS WHERE I HAVE AUBURN.
1. Alabama (11-0)
As it has been for weeks, they are the only undefeated team, so they’ll stay here until they aren’t.
(Last week: #1, beat Chattanooga 31-3)
2. Auburn (8-3)
The Tigers dispatched a team they should and are now ranked #13 in the College Football Playoff ranking, making them the 2nd ranked team in the SEC. If they can someone stay there, they’ll play in the Sugar Bowl.
(Last week: #2, beat Alabama A&M 55-0)
3. Florida (8-2)
As West teams accumulate a few more losses, I guess it’s okay to put the Gators up a little higher. I mean they’ll lose at least two more games (Florida State and Alabama), but we’ll let them sit here for now.
(Last week: #6, beat LSU 16-10)
4. Texas A&M (8-3)
The Aggies didn’t exactly beat UTSA by as much as you think they would, but they did so with a backup quarterback, and they have 8 wins.
(Last week: #4, beat UTSA 23-10)
5. LSU (6-4)
The Tigers had every opportunity in the world to blowout Florida, but they didn’t, and good for Auburn, they are out of the Sugar Bowl running.
(Last week: #3, lost to Florida 16-10)
6. Arkansas (7-4)
It’s Arkansas. They are always about right here. Good enough, but not that good.
(Last week: #5, beat Mississippi State 58-42)
7. Tennessee (8-3)
Oh wow, you beat the worst team in the SEC, but you let them score 37 points?
(Last week: #8, beat Missouri 63-37)
8. Georgia (7-4)
Of course Georgia beats Auburn by doing nearly nothing, and then doesn’t blow out a team like LA-Lafayette the next week.
(Last week: #9, beat LA-Lafayette 35-21)
9. Ole Miss (5-6)
What is going on? I know you have a backup quarterback playing, you lost to Vandy by 21? A week after beating Texas A&M?
(Last week: #6, lost to Vanderbilt 38-17)
10. Kentucky (6-5)
That was almost a disaster, Wildcats. Down 13-0 to a team that hasn’t won a game since 2014. I know basketball season is here, but come on.
(Last week: #10, beat Austin Peay 49-13)
11. South Carolina (6-5)
The Gamecocks didn’t exactly run away with it, but they’re no bowl eligible. That’s actually pretty amazing, and only an Opelika Bulldog could do it.
(Last week: #12, beat Western Carolina 44-31)
12. Mississippi State (4-7)
Well, you can score, but you can’t stop anybody from scoring.
(Last week: #11, lost to Arkansas 58-42)
13. Vanderbilt (5-6)
I should give you more for beating Ole Miss, but you lost to Missouri. Sorry, I just can’t.
(Last week: #13, beat Ole Miss 38-17)
14. Missouri (3-8)
Bye.
(Last week: #14, lost to Tennessee 63-37)
