Lots of ‘bits today. When you win games, people start talking. Just start slow and you’ll make your way through.
- Movin’ on up…with the Ohio State and Nebraska losses, Auburn moved up two spots in the both the AP and Coaches’ polls.
- There’s another major poll that made its first appearance of the year this week. It has the Tigers ranked #4.
- A group of old coaches think the Tigers are the 4th best team in the nation as well.
- They’re still letting the Auburn grad do the rankings over at CollegeFootballNews.com. The Tigers are 3rd.
- ESPN’s Mark Schlabach goes through the first BCS rankings and gives each team the eye test.
- The same team is still on top of Chris Low’s SEC Power Rankings.
- Since we’re talking polls, then let’s talk bowls. Low says Sugar, and so does CFN. ESPN says Orange or Fiesta.
- Low continues to give Cam Newton helmet stickers and continues to think he is hot. He also says Jordan-Hare is en fuego. That’s Spanish for “on fire” for those that took French.
- Speaking of Cam, he’s been named the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week, the Rivals.com Player of the Week, and the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week. A few of those have been on multiple weeks. Do you think this is getting old to him? It wouldn’t to me.
- There’s more Heisman talk, too. The ESPNU dude loves him, and so does Doug Segrest and Low.
- He even has a new nickname.
- As good as he is, the “he’s all they got” argument just doesn’t stand up.
- I’m not sure if this painting of Cam is for sale, but I would buy it.
- A guy from SI says it’s time to start talking about Auburn when it comes to title talk.
- Mandel says get your facts straight about Cam and his “troubled past”.
- I guess we should talk a little bit about the Arkansas win. Here are two guys’ takes on the game.
- Like I said in my Arkansas preview, it really doesn’t matter how many points you give up if your offense is scoring 65.
- However, someone on defense is going to have to step up because it looks like Savage is out for a while.
- Auburn picked up a big 2012 commitment today.
- Auburn will play Ole Miss at 5pm CT on ESPN2. Make sure you look at Gene’s face in the picture. It’s the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, and it’s awesome.
- Basketball practice has started. I promise I will write more about it this year.
