Auburn fans rejoice! Basketball season begins this week as Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers return for another season. The Tigers are coming off another successful season which saw them win an SEC Tournament in Nashville. Unfortunately they would lose in round one of the NCAA Tournament to Yale. This year, they look to make another run, but they must go through a very challenging schedule.
Auburn comes into this week off a 102-70 exhibition win over Florida Atlantic. The Tigers had five players in double-digits including Johni Broome and Georgia Tech transfer Miles Kelly who each scored 15 points.
The Tigers will open the season at Neville Arena facing the Vermont Catamounts. Vermont is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance as well where they lost to Duke in the first round. They also won the America East Regular Season and Conference Titles last year. Vermont played their first game of the regular season Monday night, defeating UAB by a final score of 67-62. Their matchup with Auburn tips off at 7:00 p.m. CT and you can watch it on ESPN+.
Up next is a road trip to Houston to play the 4th ranked Houston Cougars. It’s a huge test against a team that’s made several deep runs in the NCAA Tournament. This game will be played at the Toyota Center where the Houston Rockets play. It’s an 8:30 p.m. tip-off Saturday night on ESPNU so you may have put on multiple screens if you’re still watching college football.
