Last night, Auburn rallied in the top of the 10th and was able to hold on and get the opening win of their series with #13 Arkansas. Starting pitcher, Jon Luke Jacobs, didn’t get the win, but he did pitch eight innings, giving up two runs and three hits, while striking out eight. Jacobs did such a good job that the ESPNU crew, which includes Mr. Jefferson-Pilot, Dave Neal, wanted to interview him about his performance.
While Jacobs was discussing his night, they switched to some highlights while he talked in the background. After a few seconds, it sounded like he got attacked, but shortly after I realized what had happened. When the announcers started laughing, I was assured. He got pied.
Auburn should be good to go regarding getting in the SEC Tournament with at least one more win in their next four games, but last night was a huge start. As it stands now, Auburn is only one game behind Arkansas, and with a few more wins, could move up two or three spots in the division, given they own the tiebreaker with EVERY OTHER TEAM ABOVE THEM BESIDES THE LAST PLACE TEAM. Oh well, here’s to more shaving cream pies in the future.
