Blogle Bets: CajunBarner’s Week 7 Picks

Today I woke up at my favorite spot on planet Earth, the family deer camp in rural Alabama. My Grandfather traded a corner lot in Elba for it 60 years ago, now my Funcle John owns it. I don’t get to come over here enough. Pure decompression. This morning my daughter (5) caught her first ‘all by myself’ fish. I gave my son (7) his birthday present early, Savage Rascal .22 in red. We spent the entire day between the  porch swing, shooting, and casting. No tablets, no phones, no spreadsheets, just hanging out & making sure I don’t lose to anyone at Connect 4. Tomorrow we’re heading to Auburn. It will be my kids first time on campus, my first time at a home game since Kick-Six. They’re almost as excited about it as I am. They don’t need to know it’s Georgia hate week. They’re not old enough to conceptualize a rivalry this old. PrincessBarner has one demand, meet the cheerleaders. Hug Aubie is out there but I told her Aubie is very busy on game day.

Week 6 Recap

Last week almost got away from me, a rollercoaster of intrusive thoughts and self loathing. I was immediately playing from behind. Down bad. The waking up and feeling “I’m never drinking again” flavor of bad, call around to find your Jeep, and then someone tells you it’s in the garage and you drove bad. Not that bad. But morale was sitting the lowest it’s been this season. On a bye week. Glad I wasn’t betting big.

LET’S RELIVE IT!

  • WVU: Full disclosure I was late to the game. I forgot to get the bet in, when I showed up it was a clear Over situation. I bet the Over, should this count? I’ll leave it up to you. I thought about just deleting that line and keeping it to myself but life happens. We keep it 100 round here
  • Kentucky: I watched the first drives, freaked out having dropped money on UK to cover. This didn’t seem likely so I hedged on a first half prop, which lost. I then chased and bet a 2nd half prop to make up for all the failure and it hit. UK ended up barely covering. Why do I do this? Just take the L.
  • Iowa St. : Why did I even bet this? Do I need to call a hotline? I am definitely over betting. I haven’t watched Cincinnati once…dumb.
  • Texas: Don’t bet on a game involving a coach in a must win. Don’t. I even teased that one Texas -13.5. Humbled but who knew? It’s gambling. I think Sark is shaving points to get a championship via Illuminati humiliation ritual like when Saban lost to ULM.
  • Pavia/Bama: The first time I was right all day. I nailed this one. I had a hedge in place for a break even in the event Vandy won because odds were awesome.
  • Texas Tech: Oil Money Talks
  • Texas A&M: They’re real. One of the elite SEC teams this year. Hit both bets.
  • Florida State: Gusbus. We ride or die with Gus here.
  • Ohio State: The best team in college football. Just bet it.

Turned out to be a great day. The lesson…we overbet. Reel it in bud. There’s too much money out, I don’t like my ROI. I hit 4 of 6 three leg parlays as well. It’s monopoly money now.

WEEK 7

I like several matchups this week and one game has my full and undivided attention. I’ll have plenty of action going while on my way to Auburn and hopefully plenty to celebrate come TigerWalk.

Ohio St. -14.5 v. Illinois [O/U 50.5] 11:00am

I don’t like the over here. I do think Ohio State will cover. Indiana exposed Illinois. This is a solid bet with a seemingly large line. Light work for Ohio State. Buckeyes cover

Alabama -3.5 v. Mizzou [O/U 51.5] 11:00am

I’m taking Bama here. My algo is pointing to Mizzou. Mizzou hasn’t played anyone. Bama is rolling. Alternate spreads on Bama pay +200 at -9.5. I’ll have more than one bet on the spreads here. I can’t get a hedge line on Mizzou for a break even so I won’t have many going. Likely taking Bama to cover -3.5, -9.5. Watching the first bit to gauge pace and calling the over/under.

Pitt v. FSU -10.5 [O/U 58.5] 11:00am

Full throttle on Gusbus.

Indiana v. Oregon -7.5 [O/U 53.5] 2:30pm

Cignetti is my dawg. Indiana is far better than Penn State. I’m attacking this game. Indiana to cover -6.5 is +400. The Over. Indiana to win is +235, can probably shop that and get +250. Will have a hedge in place given the exceptional odds offered on Indiana. Don’t forget the profit boosts given by your online sportsbook. This will be a huge win for me if Indiana comes close.

Arkansas v. Tennessee -10.5 [O/U 68.5] 3:15pm

Tennessee covers here. I don’t care if motorcycle man is back in charge. It won’t be that big of a deal for Arkansas. IF it’s a situational bet, these things don’t tend to work out for the new coach, either way…Let’s roll a responsible amount on Tennessee here.

Florida v. TAMU -7.5 [O/U 47.5] 6pm

Florida won’t do it twice. It’s inconceivable. I’m taking TAMU amount depends on how my day has gone.

Georgia -3.5 v. Auburn [O/U 46.5] 6:30pm

I’m betting Auburn to cover -6.5 pays +265. I can handle it. It’s fine. JHS is haunted.

S Carolina v. LSU -8.5 [O/U 44.5] 6:45pm

I’m betting South Carolina here, LSU is overdue to lose one they should win. I’m on the under as well. Situation dictates amounts but I like the +270 moneyline on South Carolina. May take the points. Depends on how I’m sitting.

Kansas v. Texas Tech -14.5 [O/U 59.5] 6:30pm

Parlay filler here on Oil Money to cover. I can’t make a case for Kansas to hang with them so I’m including it in the calls. Texas Tech is -560 on the moneyline. Someone is trying to bring in volume here. Head to oddshark and check the line movement. If you’re comfortable with what you smell go with it. Texas Tech has proven they cover. I don’t have a reason to not bet other than losing my shirt during the day and calling it off.
