What Coach Pearl Said after the Missouri Win

Following his team’s win over Missouri, a win that tied him for most in Auburn history, Bruce Pearl sat down with the media to talk about the win.

Opening Statement…

“Missouri does a lot of things defensively differently than most people do. Whether it be where they’re switching, changing defenses, playing eleven guys, mix in some zone or mix in some pressure. It’s a tough preparation. I can tell you I have been spending all week on it. Now, I think we are a tough preparation, too. I think Missouri benefited from the number of days. Now, it’s tonight, it’s tomorrow, we travel on Monday to go to Austin, Texas, so it’s a shorter prep. We’ll get ourselves ready to go.

I think Johni Broome obviously, is a load down in there, and he’s so unselfish. With our shooters, you are kind of darned if you do, darned if you don’t. You play them one-on-one, he’s going to take advantage of you, you go down and get him two-off and he’s going to kick it out, and we’re going to beat you from three, and that’s been a good combination. I’d like to do a better job with our transition offense and our transition defense, if we can. I thought that we did a pretty good job at defending Missouri and trying not to foul. Those guys do a great job at getting to the line and driving at contact, and I thought we did a pretty great job. Again, that’s been a factor for us this year, we are not fouling as much as we did a year ago, and yet we’re still able to be aggressive.”
