Week 13 Predictions: It’s Rivalry Week

You ever seen somebody got on a tear? If you haven’t, look at my last 3 weeks. I was 11-1 (don’t ask what the lone miss was) in Week 12. It can barely get better than that.

This week: 8-3 (72.7%)
Last week: 11-1 (91.7%)
Overall: 107-31 (77.5%)

It’s Rivalry Week, which is typically the toughest week to pick because you can throw all the record books out the window. You really can’t, it’s just a thing people say now. Let’s see what we got.

11/23

Ole Miss at Mississippi State – The Egg Bowl always seems to have some coaching drama. Either one or both of the teams is terrible and they are fired, or one team is good and their coach is being coveted by another. In this one, Mississippi State doesn’t have a coach and Ole Miss is maybe off the hook for a year in terms of Lane’s next suitor. Ole Miss will easily roll.

Ole Miss 52, Mississippi State 10

Ole Miss 17, Mississippi State 7 – SUCCESS!

11/24

Missouri at Arkansas – The Tigers have been given a gift of a schedule, per usual, as well as some close wins over not great teams. Arkansas was riding high, got destroyed, and then beat FIU last week. It will be close for a little bit, but Missouri will come through in the end.

Missouri 35, Arkansas 17

Missouri 48, Arkansas 14 – SUCCESS!

11/25

Kentucky at Louisville – The Wildcats have given up and started basketball season. The Cardinals have a good football team and don’t want to see what their basketball team is doing. This one is probably not going to be close.

Louisville 34, Kentucky 10

Kentucky 38, Louisville 31 – FAILURE

Texas A&M at LSU – The Aggies don’t have a coach. The Tigers are still scoring lots of points in a 3-loss season. They’ll score a lot in this one, too, although it doesn’t mean anything.

LSU 48, Texas A&M 28

LSU 42, Texas A&M 30 – SUCCESS!

Vanderbilt at Tennessee – Here we go again. Tennessee’s rivalry game includes the perennial worst team in the SEC. I know somebody has to play them, but how do you end your season with Vandy and look at everybody else with a straight face?

Tennessee 31, Vanderbilt 7

Tennessee 48, Vanderbilt 24 – SUCCESS!

Florida State at Florida – The Seminoles lost their quarterback for the season, but still ended up blowing out North Alabama. Not sure what that tells us. Florida should’ve beaten Missouri last week, but lost to Arkansas a few weeks prior. I have no idea. The Gators can look really stupid one week and then somewhat competent the next week. Florida State is two wins from the Playoffs, but the loss of their quarterback is a lot, especially going on the road. Eh…

Florida 28, Florida State 24

Florida State 24, Florida 15 – FAILURE

Georgia at Georgia Tech – It will be close till the 4th quarter because Georgia isn’t as good as they have been and it’s in Atlanta where Georgia Tech has played decently at times. But some tight end will score three touchdowns after his quarterback stands in the pocket for fifteen seconds and hits him in stride across the middle.

Georgia 38, Georgia Tech 13

Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 23 – SUCCESS!

Clemson at South Carolina – Even a not elite Clemson is about to exact so much revenge on these posing Gamecocks.

Clemson 35, South Carolina 7

Clemson 16, South Carolina 7 – SUCCESS!

Alabama at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: last week doesn’t matter at all.

Auburn 21, Alabama 17

Alabama 27, Auburn 24 – FAILURE

Other Games of Note

Ohio State at Michigan – Signs, signs, everywhere signs. If you don’t like them getting stolen, then change your signs. This one being at the Big House makes it difficult because I feel like Ohio State is better, but I think the Wolverines are playing with just too much He Hate Me energy.

Michigan 21, Ohio State 17

Michigan 30, Ohio State 24 – SUCCESS!

Oregon State at Oregon – Bo Nix clinches the Heisman Trophy while fans that boo’d him out of Auburn still insist he sucks.

Oregon 41, Oregon State 21

Oregon 31, Oregon State 7 – SUCCESS!

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2023 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
