Well gotdawg, ‘Blogle. 11-3 in Week 1 of the bowl season with all those games that are nearly impossible to pick? Aight ‘den.
Bowls: 14-6 (70.0%)
Regular Season: 100-46 (68.5%)
Overall: 114-52 (68.7%)
Now that I’ve bragged a little bit, I fully expect to get nothing right going forward. Week 2 is slam packed with a million games, so I’ll split it up. Here’s the first half of the week’s games.
EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl
Memphis vs. Hawai’i – Less than 24 hours before kickoff, the host team Hawai’i cancelled due to COVID-19. Well, I guess Memphis got a nice trip out of it.
TaxAct Camellia Bowl
Georgia State vs. Ball State – I once spent a Christmas Day in Cramton Bowl for the now defunct Blue-Gray Game. It wasn’t the most fun thing. Not sure this one will be, either.
Georgia State 28, Ball State 17
Georgia State 51, Ball State 20 – SUCCESS!
Quick Lane Bowl
Western Michigan vs. Nevada – Western Michigan’s campus is two hours from Detroit, where this bowl is played. Nevada is a lot further than that. That’s about all I have for this one.
Western Michigan 38, Nevada 31
Western Michigan 52, Nevada 24 – SUCCESS!
Military Bowl pres. by Peraton
Boston College vs. East Carolina – It’s Bruce Pearl’s alma mater against one of Pat Dye’s coaching stops before he got to Auburn. What does it mean for this game? Absolutely nothing. But East Carolina is the Pirates and pirates are kinda like the military in a way, so yeah, that’ll do it.
East Carolina 24, Boston College 21
TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl
Houston vs. Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: Houston’s 11-2 record is softer than the Charmin that’ll be thrown at Toomer’s at 3pm on a Tuesday in December.
Auburn 35, Houston 17
Houston 17, Auburn 13 – FAILURE
SERVPRO First Responder Bowl
Air Force vs. Louisville – They might arrive by plane, but members of the Air Force are technically first responders, right? Louisville has no shot.
Air Force 30, Louisville 20
Air Force 31, Louisville 28 – SUCCESS!
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Mississippi State vs. Texas Tech – Mike Leach took Texas Tech to heights they had never seen, then he got fired for being mean to a player. This will be about revenge.
Mississippi State 45, Texas Tech 21
Texas Tech 34, Mississippi State 7 – FAILURE
San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl
UCLA vs. NC State – The longest bowl name has two teams that officially go by their abbreviations. The Wolfpack isn’t bad. UCLA isn’t either, but I’m feeling NC State. The Bruins can’t be pumped about going from LA to San Diego for a bowl game.
NC State 28, UCLA 17
Guaranteed Rate Bowl
West Virginia vs. Minnesota – For no real reason, I have always sorta not hated West Virginia. I do hate Minnesota, though. Let’s go ‘eers.
West Virginia 35, Minnesota 27
Minnesota 18, West Virginia 6 – FAILURE
Now that I’ve picked the bowls, you should go join the bowl pick’em. Just make sure you have them in prior to each game, but go ahead and do them all so you don’t have to worry about it. There’s prizes and stuff.
