The first person to make an *NSYNC reference about the bye week gets blocked. No questions asked. The bye week came at a great time for the Tigers; a little momentum was gained from the Ole Miss game and there are real building blocks. I can fill a post about how disrespectful it is for Auburn to have 3 straight 11 am games when A&M rolls around, but that’s the way it goes some times. Here are 3 points about the bye week.
1. Rest
There is no question that this a huge positive for this weekend. With Jemel Dean, Boobiee Whitlow, and others shouldering the lion’s share of responsibility on their respective sides of the ball, they’ve been dinged up. Having an extra week to rest and recover and heal is important for the rest of the season.
2. More Time to Prepare
Auburn has two weeks to prepare for a tough Texas A&M opponent. Auburn will get to sit back on Saturday and tune into the A&M game. A&M plays Mississippi State at 6pm. Auburn will be able to compare easily having just played at Mississippi State recently. Auburn will have an extra week to install new wrinkles in the offense as well as an extra week to find tendencies in the offense.
3. Auburn Fans get to RELAX
For the first time this season, Auburn fans don’t have to worry about nit-picking the offense. Auburn fans don’t have to dwell on a disappointing performance. Auburn fans don’t have to live in anxiety on the game. Auburn fans get to sit back and watch Florida-Georgia or Iowa-Penn State or Miami-Boston College. There is nothing better than watching other teams play without having to worry if your team will win or not.
Enjoy the bye week. Relax. Spend time with your family. Pray for a Bammer. Tell us in the comments what your favorite bye week tradition is.
