3 Good Things, 3 Bad Things from Auburn’s Win Over Baylor
The resident Canadian is back for another season of Auburn football. I’m like Alex McPherson, still kicking around. Here’s our regularly scheduled 3 good things and 3 bad things following each game this season.
It wasn’t always pretty, but Auburn found a way to finish the job. And in a game that literally came down to inches, that’s what matters. As we do with every win, let’s start with the good.
✅ THE GOOD
1. Linebacker Unit
Both Melendez and Atkins were rangy, active, and around the ball all night against both the run and the pass. Auburn got really solid play from the middle of the defense.
2. Finish
The game came down to one play, and Auburn made that play — even if only by inches.

3. Run Defence
Baylor finished with just 100 yards on the ground.
I’ll take that every single time.
❌ THE BAD
1. Running Game
The running game was definitely not humming in this one. It picked up a little in the second half, but this was far from a banner night on the ground.
There’s plenty to clean up there.
2. Turnovers
Auburn moved the ball well enough for much of the night, but costly turnovers at some very inopportune times nearly turned this one into an L.
You can survive that sometimes. You can’t make a habit of it.
3. Passing Defense
Auburn gave up 436 passing yards to a one-legged DJ Lagway.
That sentence pretty much speaks for itself.

Time to clean some things up, get the running game going, and hopefully make this one a little less stressful.
