The Gameday Timeline: Auburn 17, Baylor 16
This used to be called Gameday Tweets, but since THE GREAT RESET OF 2026, let’s make it a little more fun and take a full scroll back through gameday, specifically Auburn’s win over Baylor, and how my day proceeded around it. It’s The Gameday Timeline: Auburn-Baylor Edition.
We had to finish off the countdown of days to kickoff. 101 days of waking up every morning, pulling up the roster, realizing I don’t know more than half the players, and posting the jersey number of the day. I hope you appreciate it.

The best part of playing in Atlanta is the easy parking in College Park (where they chop cars), and spending 20 minutes on Marta. Bonus points if the game is on Labor Day weekend so you can sit beside the Mandalorian or some Anime character all the way to the stadium.

After being dropped off right at the stadium, we headed to the SEC Nation set, which was surrounded by a Fanzone type of thing. Right as we walked up, I saw skinny Alex Golesh and got a stern War Eagle.
It was 8,000 degrees so we didn’t stay around too long and found some A/C before heading over to the War Eagle Plus Kickoff Tailgate. We immediately saw Steven Pearl, Butch Thompson, Ronnie Brown, and other Auburn celebrities. We also got pulled pork, so it was a win-win.
I’ve never seen a more intense War Eagle from a human male. The look. The determination. Auburn by 67 today. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor pic.twitter.com/MuOhugvhcc

After a little more A/C, we got called into a big bodda getta before we went to the stadium. The way they were rounding up folks I thought there was a bomb in the building. Nah, just a bodda getta. On to the stadium.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is nice. It’s cool. The seats are comfortable. The food and drinks are cheap. Can we build one in Auburn?
For 87 years, I’ve started every tailgate playing Wop by J. Dash. We walk in the Benz and what’s playing? Another J. Dash Production. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor pic.twitter.com/ecscIVZBFw

I seriously don’t see a Baylor section. I see their band between orange and blue sections and that’s it. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor

I’ve said it for years. If your band wears baseball hats, you’re not serious. Baylor’s band is wearing baseball hats. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor

Auburn’s pregame video starts with Cam’s “Ain’t no mo’ next series” from the 2010 Clemson game. And that’s about a perfect microcosm of where we are and what we need. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor

When you build a website for a few weeks and then do everything it takes to get to an out-of-town football game, it’s easy to forget that you’re about to watch a football game. And then they run out of a large old leather helmet and you remember what it’s all for.

Auburn was up 10-7 at the half. Not much happened. Both offenses would look good and then stall. It didn’t feel like Auburn did anything but cause turnovers, which I guess is why they had the lead.
Auburn University Marching Band finishing the 2026 halftime show with 1812 Overture. Somebody get to my section and let me run over them. We better have real cannons in Jordan-Hare. #auburn #wareagle #BeatBaylor

It took a while, but Byrum Brown finally got in the endzone. It was a late game drive that we hadn’t seen in a while. It ended up being enough.

Once we got off Marta, and then drove back to the Opelika-Auburn area with everybody else in Lee County, we settled in to watch some other teams. Western Michigan got hosed. And if they didn’t get hosed, then the stadium clock operator should get fired.
Western Michigan needs to find a judge right now.

Away games are easier for me to do all the social media stuff. At home games, I’m tailgating and entertaining. But I’ll try to keep it up the rest of this season. I just want you to feel like you’re there, and I hope you did.
