From the Other Sideline – LSU

Ron Higgins (@ronhigg), columnist for the Shreveport-Bossier Journal and TheRonHiggins.com, has covered the SEC for 44 seasons at various newspapers in Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. He’s been on the Blogle quite a few times, and has always done a good job. This time is no different.

1. What do LSU fans think of Auburn football as of this very minute?

When you hand a butt whipping to the nation ‘s No. 1 team, it got the LSU fans immediately on high alert. Toyal respect.

2. What’s the vibe like on Lane Kiffin after a 5-2 start?

I always thought the best LSU could do this year was 9-3. It’s still in play but 8-4 is more likely. The Tigers have had another season ending injury to LB Whit Weeks and 1st team preseason All-SEC tight end Trey’Dez Green. The list of walking wounded is long and extensive.

3. What is LSU’s biggest win this season so far?

I’ll go with the win over Texas A&M. The Tigers physically shoved around the Aggies for four quarters.

4. Does Auburn’s win over Georgia scare anybody in Baton Rouge?

Hell, yes. They should be.

5. Which two unheralded LSU Tigers should Auburn fans look out for and why?

New transfer receivers Jackson Harris and Eugene Wilson III have made some spectacular catches of some poorly thrown passes by transfer Sam Leavitt. Also, transfer safety Ty Benefield is an absolute stud.

6. Which two Auburn Tigers worry you the most and why?

I’ll give you one and it’s QB Byrum Brown. Dual threat QBs keep LSU’s defense on its heels. His performance last week of 265 yards total offense and two TDs.

7. Where do you see each team having an advantage over other?

QBs, RBs are even, LSU has edge in receivers, Auburn edge in offensive line, it’s even on the DL and LBs. LSu edge in secondary, Auburn edge in kicking game.

8. What’s your score prediction and analysis for this game?

It will be something like 27-24, maybe 24-21. It is a pick ‘em game, but will say trust Alex McPherson more than LSU’s PK.

9. Where will Auburn and LSU end up this season?

Auburn 7-5. LSU 8-4.

10. Lastly, what do you think of Alex Golesh?

Auburn FINALLY hired the right guy.
