The Gameday Timeline: Auburn 43, Southern Miss 8

FootballGameday TweetsThe Gameday Timeline

This used to be called Gameday Tweets, but since THE GREAT RESET OF 2026, let’s make it a little more fun and take a full scroll back through gameday, specifically Auburn’s win over Southern Miss, and how my day proceeded around it. It’s The Gameday Timeline: Auburn-Southern Miss Edition. Follow me.

Pregame:

It was the first home gameday of the 2026 season. It was raining and wet, but there was a tailgate to get setup. And that’s what we did.

I got word that Derick Hall would be the honorary mic man. See below to find out if I was right.

After Tiger Walk and breaking down the tailgate early since I foresaw a midnight, we headed to the stadium. If you haven’t heard, they’re doing some construction on the stadium, which means less gates to get through, which also meant some weird barricade maze that didn’t make sense. Then throw in a lightning delay that caused them close the gates, and it was…

After the lightning delay, we finally got in and got to see the field for the first time in 2026 (besides the soccer game).

I was right.

I have not missed an Auburn home game since my senior year of high school.

1st half:

After a pretty good 1st half, the Auburn band performed the best Auburn halftime show I’ve seen in quite some time.

2nd half:

Byrum Brown caught a touchdown pass. Who does he think he is? Cam Newton?

Postgame:

Auburn won the football game, and it was by a score that has never happened.

Florida is coming to town in a few days. It’s the only SEC night game at Jordan-Hare this season. I’ll be sure to chronicle it.
