Auburn destroyed Richmond and then Coach Bruce Pearl sat down with the media to talk about it.
On the team’s defense against Richmond…
“We have a defensive system, and the five-out offense, the Princeton offense, Coach (Chris) Mooney spent time at Princeton, and nobody runs a five-out better. We do know how to guard it. Sometimes guys, it’s about matchups. There are certain things that we defend really well, and that’s one of the things we defend really well. Ohio State will bring a completely different offensive system in. We’ll take our defensive system and match it up, but that’s just a good matchup for us. We know how to guard it.”
On Tahaad Pettiford’s impact…
“He’s consistently made shots. He’s consistently – the better opponent, the better he plays. He wants to be coached and we’re on him pretty good. He’s very accountable himself, but he wants to be taught. Our guys have done a great job, even though we have seniors with those two freshmen (Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard). Our guys have really brought them along. This team likes each other. And Tahaad, I was asked a question the other day about when is he going to start? I said, ‘Haven’t even really thought about that,’ because that group is starting right now. It’s starting really well and Tahaad doesn’t care about that. I’ll tell you one thing. He does want to be there at the end (of a game).”
