Auburn is looking to have its second revenge win tonight (the first being Georgia) after losing outright in the first meeting this season. Waiting for them at home is a 16-7 Texas A&M team that has only dropped 1 game since the last meeting. The Aggies are a tough team coached by a coach who cannot stay off the court in Buzz Williams. Appearing in 14 NCAA Tournaments and peaking with 6 Sweet Sixteen appearances.
SERIES HISTORY
While not one of the more infamous basketball schools in the SEC the Aggies do hold the advantage in this series. Leading the series 13-6, the Aggies have coach Bruce Pearls number. Winning 7 of the last 10, the Tigers will need to be on their best game.
WHAT TO WATCH
Auburn did the unthinkable and had a worse offensive performance than the Northwestern game versus Tennessee last Saturday. That is something that cannot happen versus Texas A&M who also has a top defense in the SEC. While Auburn fans should expect Johni Broome to dominate whoever is put in front of him. We should not expect him to do it alone. Guard shooting accuracy will need to be on point in this final stretch for Auburn.
This Auburn team needs to play with spirit and hustle tonight as they are no longer ranked. As much as I disagree with their falling out of the AP poll, Auburn needs to play like they are the ranked team in this matchup. Look for fire in their eyes tonight.
PREDICTION
I said before this final stretch that Auburn needed to go at least 2-2. Almost beating a top-ranked Tennessee in their house no matter how ugly a game it was shows they can do it. Texas A&M will not be a tougher environment or opponent. I think they will shake off the bad voodoo magic the Aggies have against us and win a close one.
