Robert Kraft Backs New Sports Betting App, Embraces ‘Boom’

The National Football League has long been at the forefront of innovation in the field of sports, and that has certainly been supported by a few of its most prolific names. Robert Kraft is the owner of the New England Patriots and one of the most prominent front office officials in the world of professional athletics. More than just a figurehead atop the Patriots’ leadership, Kraft has continued to push for innovation around the sport of football as well, primarily through embracing sports gambling. Kraft would make notable waves this year when he partnered with a group of famous investors to support Boom Entertainment.

Stephen A. Murphy is the CEO and co-founder of Boom Entertainment. Boom Entertainment has been making waves across the industry over the past several months thanks to its efforts in creating new sports gaming apps, including NBC Sports Predictor. Through their efforts, Boom Entertainment was able to announce its securing of $15 Million in Series A funding, led by Sands Capital.

Boom Entertainment and Sports Betting

Boom Entertainment isn’t a new face in the realm of sports gaming apps, as showcased by its immensely popular work with NBC. With that being said, Boom is setting its sights on something a little more ambitious.

Stephen A. Murphy spoke in an interview to say, “Sports fans and casino players are craving something more – new products and new games that will transform how they consume sports.”

Scott Frederick is a partner at Boom Entertainment and he was quick to back up the words of Mr. Murphy. Frederick stated, “Boom is in an enviable position as the premier provider of technology and games in an industry that is both rapidly expanding and increasingly in need of product differentiation.”

At the time of this writing, Boom has curated nearly 3 million global users, blending offerings in sports gaming as well as live betting. Murphy hopes that Boom will help elevate and innovate the way that fans experience professional sports.  Only founded in 2015, Boom has already come a long way as they’ve curated a star-studded team of developers including prominent names from Draftkings, IGT, High 5 Games, and Aristocrat.

While the team at Boom has certainly worked hard to set itself apart from the rest of the sports gaming industry, they’ve certainly been supported in their efforts by star-studded investors and prominent names both within and outside the realm of sports. Leading the charge was Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, as well as other names like Jim Murren (MGM Resorts International CEO) and Adam Schefter (ESPN Analyst).

Sports Gambling, Football, and Robert Kraft

Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots are two names that will be revered by NFL fans for generations to come. Kraft’s work turning the Patriots into a winning dynasty will always be remembered, but it is his efforts off of the field that has garnered more attentive eyes.

As sports gambling becomes increasingly popular within the mainstream athletic world, figures like Robert Kraft are doing their best to help adopt and integrate systems where they can. More than just an investor in Boom Entertainment’s sports gambling applications, Kraft has also been vocally pushing Massachusetts to adopt legal gambling legislation.

At the time of this writing, conservative expectations had the sports betting space valued at more than $40 billion. With so much money on the line and a fanbase rapidly growing to appreciate it, expect Kraft’s work to continue going forward. Will Massachusetts legalize sports gambling? Will Kraft be one of the driving reasons why it ever happened?
