Since the SEC expanded to 14 teams, and implemented the double bye format of the SEC Basketball Tournament, no team had ever played in the first round on Wednesday and the 4th round on Saturday. Auburn can now say they will be the first.
It only took fighting through awful officiating, two free points for LSU, and an ejection actually due to fighting, but Auburn wa able to knock off LSU 73-70 in overtime.
