Auburn and Florida have had some pretty exciting match-ups over the years, most resulting in Auburn wins. Thanks to YouTube, let’s relive a few of those.
In 1989, Reggie Slack completed a last-minute touchdown pass to Shane Wadsden to win the game 10-7. In one of his greatest calls, Jim Fyffe gives an almost angry “Touchdown Auburn! Touchdown Auburn!”
Emmitt Smith never beat Auburn while he was at Florida and he didn’t take it well.
In 1993, Calvin Jackson returned a Danny Wuerffel interception 95 yards to cut what would have been a 17 point lead to just 3. Auburn would win 38-35 on a field goal with 1:41 left.
In 1994, at the Swamp, Auburn extended it’s 18-game winning streak, with a comeback win over the #1 Gators. Another instance of Nix to Sanders.
In 2001, Auburn beat #1 Florida with a last minute field goal by Damon Duval. The Tigers held the Gators to -36 yards rushing.
In 2006, the loudest Jordan-Hare Stadium I’ve ever heard would help the Tigers come back and beat the Gators, the only loss on the National Champions’ record.
There’s a pretty good highlight video here, but don’t tell anybody about it.
In 2007, Auburn beat #4 Florida at the Swamp with two last-second field goals by Wes Byrum.
There’s also a pretty good highlight video for this one as well, but keep it on the hush.

Although I don’t want Auburn in the SEC East I would not mind having this old rivalry renewed every year if we have to.
Whenever I feel discouraged, I go back and watch Wes kick that field goal, and then kick it again, beating old Cheaterpants Urban. Watching him Gator Chomp those meanies at Florida Field never stops making me smile. War Eagle Forever.
Man, these videos give me goosebumps, especially the game in 2006. My brother and I lived in Auburn and woke up at 6 a.m. to get a spot for College Gameday located behind right field of the baseball stadium. Loudest game I’ve ever been to at JHS, even after going to all of last years home games. Auburn is “That Annoying Little Gnat” to Florida. Maybe more of a horsefly…
I was at the 2006 game. I swear you could hear that roar in Montgomery. Best game I’ve been to other than the 11-sack Iron Bowl.
War Eagle, Florida has a rough patch with it and I don’t send any cut grass coming soon
