Good news: Bret is alive. He won’t be joining us today, but he is breathing. Anyway, Jeris and Cole give us an update on their feelings about the Cam situation, tell us what they did on bye weeks during their playing days, and give a brief, initial analysis of the Iron Bowl in this week’s roundtable. Enjoy.
1. After another week, what are your updated thoughts on the Newton situation?
Jeris: This Cam Newton stuff is crazy. The timing just doesn’t make sense at all. I truly feel that he did nothing wrong because if he did, trust me, Auburn would not let him on the field. Cam is a great player and a great person, and all this talk just blows my mind.
Cole: That I’m over it.
2. How did you usually spend your Saturday on an off-week?
Jeris: I always used the off week to just rest. I would probably go home to Tampa, watch a little football, and spend time with the family.
Cole: I would go home, watch other teams play, and just catch up with family and friends.
3. What are your initial thoughts on the Iron Bowl? How do the teams match-up?
Jeris: What else can you say? It’s the Iron Bowl. Its going to be a great test for us. Saban is a great defensive coach, so I know he is going to try to come up with something to slow down Cam. It should be interesting.
Cole: Alabama can cause problems up front. I think it’s the most balanced team Auburn will have played. Turnovers and penalties will be the difference. Alabama has the edge in both categories. Auburn dominates the rushing numbers, however.
