The Auburn Emporium’s Pick Six – Week 4

Week 4 of the college football season brings just a few ranked matchups and several non-conference showdowns before teams hit the heart of conference play.

In this week’s Pick Six I will predict six matchups across the college football world that you need to know about. So far my record for the season is 8-4 after the first three weeks of the season. Here are my predictions for week 4!

No.17 Texas Tech Red Raiders at No.16 Utah Utes | Kickoff at 11:00am CT on FOX

A battle of undefeated Big 12 teams takes place in Salt Lake City as Texas Tech battles Utah. These are two teams that will look to contend for a conference championship. The Utes have already proven themselves with wins at UCLA and Wyoming. Texas Tech is coming off a home victory over Oregon State but have yet to play on the road until this weekend. I believe this game will be close, but I like Utah to pull out the victory at home. I like Utah’s quarterback Devin Dampier and his ability to make plays. Utah’s defense has allowed just 25 total points in their first three games of the season and I don’t see Texas Tech being able to score lots of points in this matchup. My Prediction: Utah

No. 21 Michigan Wolverines at Nebraska Cornhuskers | Kickoff at 2:30pm CT on CBS

Michigan faces yet another road test this week at undefeated Nebraska this week. After a road loss to Oklahoma two weeks ago, this is a big opportunity for the Wolverines to prove themselves. This game will be a big test for Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola who’s already off to a great start in his sophomore season. Meanwhile Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood will look to build off his team’s 63-3 over Central Michigan where he totaled 235 passing yards, 114 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns. I think Michigan is a talented team, but I believe Nebraska will pick up a statement win at home. My Prediction: Nebraska

No.9 Illinois Illini at No.19 Indiana Hoosiers | Kickoff at 6:30pm on NBC

It’s a big battle between undefeated BIG 10 teams Saturday night. This game will feature two of the conference’s best quarterbacks in Luke Altmyer and Fernando Mendoza. Both quarterbacks have thrown for over 700 yards in their first three games of the season. The Illini already have a win at Duke this season where they won that game 45-13. I think this will be a close game but I like Illinois to pull out the win on the road. My Prediction: Illinois

Tulane Green Wave at No.13 Ole Miss Rebels | Kickoff at 2:30pm on ESPN

This could honestly be one of the more underrated games of the weekend. Ole Miss faces a Tulane team full of confidence after wins over Northwestern, South Alabama, and Duke. Meanwhile Ole Miss survived a scare from Arkansas last week by a final score of 41-35. The Rebels relied on backup quarterback Trinidad Chambliss after starter Austin Simmons went down with a foot injury in the game against Kentucky. Chambliss racked up 353 yards and two touchdowns. It hasn’t been all perfect for Ole Miss who is allowing an average of 381 yards on defense. I think Tulane will give Ole Miss a scare, but I think the Rebels will come away with the victory. My Prediction: Ole Miss

Florida Gators at No.4 Miami Hurricanes | Kickoff at 6:30pm on ABC

Florida’s schedule does not get any easier. They now travel this week to fourth ranked Miami who is looking to keep their undefeated season going. Florida has been a major disappointment this year, but the difficult schedule has not helped them much either. I think this game is pretty straight-forward and I don’t see why ESPN decided this would be College Gameday this weekend. I believe Miami will win big over Florida. My Prediction: Miami

Arizona State Sun Devils at Baylor Bears | Kickoff at 6:30pm on FOX

A big non-conference battle in Waco this weekend features two teams who are looking to gain momentum after dropping non-conference games to SEC teams. Arizona State brings their high-powered offense to face Baylor and quarterback Sawyer Robertson. I expect a lot of points between these teams but I like Baylor especially after their big win over SMU in double overtime two weeks ago. I think Baylor’s confidence is only going to improve and the loss to Auburn in week one will not impact them too heavily. I have concerns on the effectiveness of Arizona State offense and I think they will find things difficult against a Dave Miranda defense. My Prediction: Baylor
