Week 1 went about as well as it could. I went 17-1 and the only miss was Alabama’s loss, so I’m just going to go ahead and say it was a perfect weekend.
Last Week: 17-1 (94.4%)
This Week: 14-3 (82.4%)
Overall: 31-4 (88.6%)
We’re still in the time of year where there are very few conference games (only 1 this week), so it feels like I’m picking 87 matchups. Let’s get to it.
9/6
San Jose State at Texas – Maybe Arch can complete back-to-back forward passes?
Texas 38, San Jose State 3
Texas 38, San Jose State 7 – SUCCESS!
Utah State at Texas A&M – I see the Aggies are only playing the best to start their season, but they didn’t look too great last week.
Texas A&M 31, Utah State 14
Texas A&M 44, Utah State 22 – SUCCESS!
Austin Peay at Georgia – You may think that starting their season with Marshall and then Austin Peay is not indicative of Georgia’s schedule, but besides coming to Jordan-Hare in October, it literally is.
Georgia 56, Austin Peay 7
Georgia 28, Austin Peay 6 – SUCCESS!
Ole Miss at Kentucky – Our first SEC game of the season would’ve been the worst game in the SEC 20 years ago. Now Kentucky is back to terrible and Ole Miss is better.
Ole Miss 35, Kentucky 10
Ole Miss 30, Kentucky 23 – SUCCESS!
East Tennessee State at Tennessee – You’re about to notice a trend with many of these next few games. Apparently it’s the weekend that Auburn should’ve played UAB or Troy. It’s in-state ‘throw them a bone’ weekend.
Tennessee 42, East Tennessee State 7
Tennessee 72, East Tennessee State 17 – SUCCESS!
Kansas at Missouri – They’ll make a big deal about this one because it was some border war for years and it’s the first time back. They’re both middle of the road and it means as much as it did back then. Nothing.
Missouri 17, Kansas 10
Missouri 42, Kansas 31 – SUCCESS!
South Florida at Florida – Have you ever heard about how Florida never leaves the State of Florida for non-conference games? This is their first of two for the season. South Florida isn’t bad, but I think Florida should be better.
Florida 31, South Florida 14
South Florida 18, Florida 16 – FAILURE
Arkansas State at Arkansas – It’s the Gus Malzahn Bowl… or something.
Arkansas 38, Arkansas State 7
Arkansas 56, Arkansas State 14 – SUCCESS!
South Carolina State at South Carolina – South Carolina isn’t even a st… wait.
South Carolina 52, South Carolina State 6
South Carolina 38, South Carolina State 10 – SUCCESS!
Louisiana Tech at LSU – We have no clue how good LSU really is, but they’re gonna ride the Clemson win for at least another week.
LSU 27, Lousiana Tech 3
LSU 23, Lousiana Tech 7 – SUCCESS!
Arizona State at Mississippi State – Y’all remember that Mississippi State did a home-away with Arizona and now they’ve backed it right up with Arizona State? It’s like the AD discovered a new state and found a way to visit it twice in 4 years. The Sun Devils are much better than the Maroons.
Arizona State 31, Mississippi State 21
Mississippi State 24, Arizona State 20 – FAILURE
Michigan at Oklahoma – This is weird. It’s two big names. Michigan doesn’t seem great. Oklahoma isn’t 2000’s good. It’ll be a little meh, but because it will be close everyone will assume that both teams are good. Can’t they both be bad?
Oklahoma 20, Michigan 17
Oklahoma 24, Michigan 13 – SUCCESS!
Vanderbilt at Virginia Tech – How in the world did Virginia Tech get the two most annoying wannabe teams in the nation for the first 2 weeks? First they got Shane Beamer, and now they get Diego Pavia. I guess it will make the rest of the season seem very chill. I have no clue in this one.
Virginia Tech 20, Vanderbilt 17
Vanderbilt 44, Virginia Tech 20 – FAILURE
UL-Monroe at Alabama – Hahahahahahahhahahahahah, there could not be a funnier opponent given the current circumstances around the TAHD.
Alabama 34, UL-Monroe 0
Alabama 73, UL-Monroe 0 – SUCCESS!
Ball State at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: the legs work, now let’s make sure the arms do, too.
Auburn 45, Ball State 10
Auburn 42, Ball State 3 – SUCCESS!
Other Games of Note
Baylor at SMU – The Bears are a good team. I don’t think SMU can continue their magic from last year. But it’ll be very close.
Baylor 41, SMU 40
Baylor 48, SMU 45 – SUCCESS!
Oklahoma State at Oregon – Apparently, they’re taking jabs over NIL and stuff? I don’t mind Oklahoma State, but they won’t win.
Oregon 34, Oklahoma State 13
Oregon 69, Oklahoma State 3 – SUCCESS!
