March is here and that means it’s time to find out which teams will punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Auburn Men’s Basketball team has already solidified their position as one of the top seeds, but has a point to prove at the SEC Tournament after losing their final two games of the regular season.
Auburn won the SEC Tournament in 2024 before losing their first round game of the NCAA Tournament to Yale. This year, Auburn is one of the favorites to win a National Championship.
The Tigers are the 1-seed in the SEC Tournament and will play Ole Miss who beat Arkansas in the final seconds of their 2nd round game. Auburn beat the Rebels twice in conference play scoring over 90 points in each game.
If Auburn wins, they would play either Texas A&M, Texas, or Tennessee. Should Auburn make the championship game on Sunday, the Tigers could see a handful of teams again including Florida, Kentucky, or Alabama.
‘“It’s all about step up,” said Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl. “What more do you have? The thing that gives me hope about this team is you’ve seen different guys throughout the year be able to step up and see another level. Another level is what you need in March.”
Tip-off for Auburn’s first game is at noon CT with coverage on ESPN. The Tigers will play at noon again Saturday and Sunday should they advance to the semifinals and the championship game.
