Week 5 Predictions: Why is Everybody Off?

Now we’re back. 10-2 in Week 4 is pretty strong. First B of the season. It’s only up from here.

Last Week: 10-2 (83.3%)
This Week: 0-0 (0.0%)
Overall: 47-15 (75.8%)

Wow, what a light week. Five SEC teams are taking the week off. Probably to watch the Georgia-Alabama game, right? I mean, it’s nice to only have to pick 6 conference games, but still. I thought we were a Super Conference now?

9/28

Kentucky at Ole Miss – Ah, the old “bottom of the barrel” bowl. One is back down there, and one is only playing teams down there. Furman, Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, and now Kentucky? Seriously, Ole Miss. We’re supposed to trust these 40-50 point games with that schedule. But Lane is SO funny!

Ole Miss 38, Kentucky 17

Arkansas at Texas A&M – Are they playing this in Dallas? Yeah, looks like they are. So no home field advantage. They both appear to be close to mediocre. Arkansas looks better than they should be. Texas A&M looks worse than they were expected to be (for some reason).

Mississippi State at Texas – The Maroons took a beating at the hands of Toledo, then went to Florida and were somewhat respectable. Texas beat Michigan pretty good, but haven’t played a soul with life since then. Too bad the Maroons are pretty much lifeless as well.

Texas 41, Mississippi State 10

Georgia at Alabama – IT’S THE NEW SUPER BOWL TO END ALL HUNGER VOL 2 EPISODE 4 OR 5 OR WHO CARES. Georgia is not near as good as people still want them to be (see: Kentucky). Alabama beat a lifeless Wisconsin and we think that’s supposed to mean something. Alabama will win, and I think it might not be much of a game.

Alabama 31, Georgia 17

South Alabama at LSU – The Purple Tigers are finally done playing teams from LA so they are playing a team from LA. DO YOU GET IT?

LSU 45, South Alabama 10

Oklahoma at Auburn – Check back later for my prediction in the game preview, but SPOILER ALERT: welcome to the Jungle, Sooners.

Other Games of Note

Oklahoma State at Kansas State – Both teams took their first L last week. You’ll remember Oklahoma State beat Arkansas in OT in week 2. Last week they lost to a good Utah. Kansas State, however, got destroyed by another team from Utah. BYU ran all over them. OSU wins.

Oklahoma State 34, Kansas State 27

Louisville at Notre Dame – I am not going to live in a world where Louisville is a consistent #15 team, never does anything to get any higher or drop any lower, and pretends they are better than all but 14 teams in the nation. That’s Notre Dame’s gig.

Notre Dame 24, Louisville 14

Now that you know who will win, head on over to the 2024 War Blogle Pick ’em and get your picks in. There will be weekly prizes and an overall winner at the end of the season. It’s easy. Do it.
