Folks, it’s a marathon not a sprint. Week one is always tough because we just don’t know much about who is who. Sure, we can look on paper and have an educated guess, but nobody really knows. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise pat them on their lucky butts and remind them it’s a long season.
NO, we didn’t have a desirable week one, but that’s ok. @Chuck and I haven’t had McDonalds in a while so it was good to eat cheap for a week. I think we both agree that we’re ready for top shelf bourbon and big ribeye steaks this week though. Don’t call it a bounce back, call it a get right. Here are your week two winners.
Last Week: 1-4
Overall: 1-4
Texas -7 @ Michigan
Yes, on paper this is a top 10 matchup. Is it really though? Yes, the game is in the Big House. The only problem is Jim Harbaugh, McCarthy, and Blake Corum aren’t walking through those doors. We just think Michigan is not a top 10 team and Texas is who they are supposed to be. Texas pulls away by multiple scores.
Arkansas +9.5 @ Oklahoma State
We may be going out on a limb here but Arkansas looked like they had a pulse last week. Yes, it was against an outmatched Arkansas Pine Bluff team, but the execution was there and they did what they were supposed to do. We’re not sure if Arkansas can pull the upset but we think this going to be a very close football game.
Iowa State @ Iowa -3
Has Iowa’s offense improved at all from last season? It couldn’t have possibly gotten worse right? In all seriousness, this Iowa defense is always for real. They will wave at the kids in the hospital and they will take care of business in a home rivalry game.
California @ Auburn -13
This isn’t last years Auburn team playing at 9:30 CT halfway across the country. This is a much-improved Auburn team playing at home in front of arguably the biggest crowd California has ever played in. Auburn has the better athletes; Auburn is more physical and has the Jordan Hare crowd behind them. This one has all the makings of a blowout if Auburn doesn’t make mistakes.
Tennessee -10 @ NC State
We are under the impression that this NC State team is a tad fraudulent. Tennessee has all the ingredients to make an appearance in the playoff this season. This one may start out slow but Tennessee simply has more dudes than the home team.
